David Edward Amis
January 26, 1925 - December 5, 2016
David Edward Amis quietly passed away on December 5, 2016 at the Veteran's Residence of Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre in his 92nd year.
Cherished husband of Margaret for 68 years and devoted Dad to his predeceased son David.
Beloved father of Barbara (Ron), loving grandfather to Jessica (Eric) and survived by his daughter Beverley (Christopher) and granddaughter Sarah (Ian).
He was predeceased by his brothers Frank, William, and Frederick and will be missed by sisters Margaret, Betty and Jane.
David was a proud veteran of the WWII Merchant Navy and member of the City of Toronto Fire Department retiring after 38 years as Fire Captain.
He was generous and giving of his time as a Past Master of Remembrance Lodge 586, 33 Degree Scottish Rite Mason and through his membership
of the Ramses Shrine.
The family extends a special thanks to the staff of Sunnybrook for their compassionate care of David and especially PSW Maria "Lea" De Leon for her exceptional and loving companionship.
Visitation will be held from 2-4pm Thursday at the McDougall and Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd., 416-267-4656.
A Complete Funeral Service will be held at 2:00pm Friday in the chapel of the Funeral Home with a reception to follow at the family's residence.
In lieu of flowers donations to Shriners Hospital for Children (SHC-Canada) would be appreciated by the family.
