Elsie May Caverly (nee Law)

February 28, 1924 - July 21, 2016

Elsie passed away peacefully in her 93rd year at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Palliative Care Unit. She is survived by her devoted sons Robert and David, daughter-in-law Joana, granddaughters Tatiana and Rebecca. Pre-deceased by her loving husband Stanley, and caring brothers and sister, William, Raymond and Marjorie.

Elsie lived a long and full life. She brought engagement, a positive attitude, warmth, selflessness, and a good sense of humour to her relationships with others. Always energetic and hardworking, she was both fiercely determined and supremely organized. As such, throughout her life, she was so often the “master juggler of many things”. And still, she always seemed to manage to take time to think of and consider the other person, while somehow keeping all of the balls in the air. She was completely devoted to her husband Stanley and to her family; always loyal and supportive, loving, flexible and considerate, even when it sometimes meant considerable sacrifice on her part. Elsie was a deeply principled person. She lived her life based on her values and principles and placed great importance on passing those on to her sons and to her granddaughters. A life truly well lived.

We wish to express our sincere thanks to the many wonderful people who provided care and support to Mom in the last couple of years. To Doctors Kita and Bluthardt and staff at Providence Rehab, Dr. Krieger and the Oncology team at Scarborough General Hospital, and finally, to Doctors Poon, Soliman and Wortzman and each of their respective teams at Sunnybrook, who provided Mom with compassionate treatment and exceptional palliative care over the past two months. All of you, and your teams, are a credit to your profession. Thank-you.

Visitation will be held at St John the Baptist Norway Anglican Church from 1pm to 2 pm Friday August 5, 2016 followed immediately by a memorial service.
