<div itemprop="description">Ernest George Derry <br>October 26 1937 - September 23 2016 <br>With great sadness we announce the passing of Ernie Derry. He passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital on September 23rd, surrounded by loving members of his family. Ernie retired from the Metropolitan Toronto Police Force in1993 after an illustrious and storied 32-year career. He was a past president of the International Police Association, Central Region, a Past Master of Scarboro Lodge #653, an active member of Church of the Master United Church and had volunteered for many charitable and worthy causes. He was predeceased by his parents Sidney and Annie Derry, his brother Grant, and his late wife Mabel Jean (Irving) Derry. He will be greatly missed by his wife Gaby, daughters Janet (Frank) MacKay, Nancy Clark, his brother Bernie, sisters Linda (Dieter) Gobkes and Priscilla (Alan) Densham, as well as his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law and many nieces and nephews. His goodwill, hearty handshake and robust sense of humour will be missed by all. Visitation will be held at McDougall and Brown Funeral Home Scarborough Chapel, 2900 Kingston Road. Toronto M1M 1N5 on Tuesday September 27, 2016 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. and on Wednesday September 28, 2016 from 7 - 9 p.m. with a Masonic service. A funeral service will be held on Thursday September 29, 2016 in the chapel at 11 a.m. followed by interment in Resthaven Memorial Gardens at 2700 Kingston Road. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society are requested in lieu of flowers. <br></div>
