Born July 4, 1925 in Toronto, Ontario, passed away peacefully in Scarborough General Hospital on February 26, 2016 in the same style and manner as she lived her life - with grace and dignity. She leaves behind her adoring husband of 62 years, Louis Elias Bardwell and six loving children: Mary-Lou Collins (John Collins), Anne-Marie, Susan (Kevin Thompson), John (Heidi Pelzl), Andrew (Camille) and Chris (Laurie Nichols), 16 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. She was an enthused volunteer for decades at St Rose of Lima church (in numerous capacities); St. Francis Table; Good Shepherd Ministries and more. For many years she and Lou loved to do-si-do with their square dancing friends. Mary was devoted to her family in an extraordinary way. It was her calling and joy. In all she said and did she was a guardian to those who held a place in her heart. No effort was too great, no detail was too small, no day was too long. She actively lived her Catholic faith and values, found peace and purpose in them, and held those around her to a high standard. We are all better people for having been loved by Mary and she will be deeply missed. Visitation will be at McDougall & Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd. Scarborough on Sunday, February 28th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm. Mass will be held at St Rose of Lima, 3216 Lawrence Ave E., Scarborough, Monday, February 29th at 10:30am. Interment Resthaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Francis Table, The Good Shepherd Ministries or Scarboro Foreign Missions would be appreciated.
