Roberta Collier
October 17, 1933 - February 20, 2015
On the evening of Friday, February 20, 2015, Roberta (Babs) May Collier, passed away from natural causes while being comforted and attended by the nursing staff at Toronto East General Hospital. Roberta was 81 years old.
Born October 17, 1933 in Oakville, Ontario, she was the youngest child of the late Robert Megson and May Porter Megson. She is also preceded in death her older brother Jack Megson.
She is survived by her former husband, Brian John Collier; two children, Son, Douglas James and wife, Verna Mae (Palabay); and Daughter, Pamela Lyn; two grandchildren, Robert James and Kennedy Mae.
Of the many things that Roberta will be remembered for is her success as a business woman, a loyal friend and an exceptionally loving mother and grandmother. A quietly strong woman, Roberta survived Breast Cancer and also battled the last several years of her life with Dementia, which limited her mobility and speech but never diminished her gracious and compassionate soul. Roberta will be fondly remembered as an accomplished artist with memberships and affiliations with both The Art Guild of Scarborough and the Beach Fine Arts Guild.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, prayers, and support in many heart-felt forms from too many people to name individually but including Arlene Ponce for her unwavering support, boundless love, generous heart and compassionate soul. There are few words to express our appreciation for your care for Roberta over the past year. Special thanks to the caregivers at Chester Village for their care of Roberta. In addition, the family extends our sincere thanks to the nurses and physicians at Toronto East General Hospital for their sensitivity and comfort in her final days. Sincere gratitude to Chaplain Pam Bauer for her sympathy, guidance and wisdom.
After the service, Roberta’s earthly remains will be lovingly scattered at one of her most favorite family vacation destinations.... along the shores of the beautiful beach at Cape Cod, Massachusetts.
The family will receive friends Saturday, February 28, 2015 with visitation beginning at 1:30 PM at Sherrin Funeral Home. A Memorial Service in Celebration of Roberta’s Life will follow at 2:30 PM with Maggie Shields officiating. The family welcomes everyone to join in a reception directly following the memorial service at 3:30 pm.
