B.A. M.A. 1924 - 2016 Veteran WW II Canadian Army University of Toronto (Victoria College) 1951 Retired Sr. Vice-President CIBC <br /> <br />The family of Jack Wightman announce with sorrow his death at home on Friday, April 29, 2016. Jack was the devoted husband of Doris (nee Duncan) Wightman for 68 years. Cherished father of John R. and his wife Cheryl Martin. Adored &quot;Papa&quot; of Shannon (Steven Stroupes), Lauren (Everett Hanna) and Kathleen. Brother of William Wightman and his family of Burlington, brother-in-law of William Duncan and the late Marion Duncan and Carol wife of the late Donald Duncan. Jack was born in Women&rsquo;s College Hospital and grew up in &quot;The Beach&quot; where he lived happily the majority of his lifetime. He attended Balmy Beach Public School and Malvern Collegiate. During his service in WW II in the Canadian Artillery Jack was seriously wounded in Normandy. Upon his return home from hospitalization in France and England he attended the University of Toronto. Jack earned a B.A. in Political Science and Economics and was a member of the first class to graduate with a Masters Degree in Industrial Relations. At CIBC, his career was an adventure in the field of Consumer Credit. Sports were a great part of Jack's life and he was a retired member of Scarborough Golf and Country Club and of the Balmy Beach Canoe Club. His greatest pleasure was sitting in a canoe, fly rod in hand with a member of the family or a close friend. He valued his extended family, friends, colleagues and neighbours. Funeral Services will be held in the McDougall and Brown Funeral Home, 2900 Kingston Rd. (at St. Clair Ave. E.) 416 - 267 - 4656 on Wednesday, May 4, 2016 at 11:30 am. (Visitation will commence from 10:30 am). Private Interment, Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Flowers gratefully declined, donations may be made to the Alzheimer&rsquo;s Society, Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.
