<div itemprop="description">Erickson, Norman Edward <br /> <br />It is with deep sadness that we announce that Norman Edward Erickson passed away peacefully at his home on March 29, 2014 in his 79th year. Beloved husband of the late Beverley (nee Hodgkinson), loving father of Susan (Frank), Alison (Steve) and Joanne (Murray), beloved grandfather of Michael, Mark, Renee, David, Matthew and Benjamin, dear brother of Margie Coceanic and the late Teddy Erickson, loving companion of Gillian Harding. <br />Following his graduation in 1959 from Queen&rsquo;s University with a BSci, he had a long, successful career with the Center of Forensic Sciences in Toronto as the Section Head. <br /> <br />Retiring in 1994, Norm led a rich and diverse life as an avid outdoorsman and his love of nature saw him involved many clubs and activities, such as volleyball and curling. As a 46 year member of Whitevale Golf Club, he served on the board of directors and devoted year-round hours with the local Audubon Society. <br /> <br />Norm&rsquo;s love of canoeing, led him to become an active member of the Wilderness Canoe Association and avid member and supporter of Harbourfront Canoe Club. In 1992 he joined the Seniors for Nature Canoe Club where his countless hours of service as member and president inspired others, while also leading over 40 canoe trips. <br /> <br />In recent years he attained his advanced level of diving certification and enjoying many exotic diving expeditions as a member of the Scarborough Underwater Club. <br /> <br />He will be greatly missed by the countless people he has touched and inspired in his life. <br /> <br />A visitation will be held at McDougall &amp; Brown Funeral Home &ldquo;Scarborough Chapel&rdquo;, 2900 Kingston Rd. (1 block East of St. Clair E.) on Wednesday April 2 from 2-4 &amp; 7-9pm. A funeral service to be held on Thursday, April 3 at 11am at Church of the Master United, 3385 Lawrence Ave E. <br /> <br />Interment at Pine Ridge Cemetery. <br /> <br />Family &amp; friends are welcome to join for a reception in Norman's honour following the burial at 2336 Southcott Rd Pickering ON.</div>
