Remedios Skiba
December 8, 1935 - October 3, 2016
Remedios, our generous, loving, tireless and
hardworking wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend
has left us. She has joined her Heavenly Father and will
be sorrowfully missed. Remedios will be as welcomed and
revered in Heaven as she was by all of us here on
earth. Remedios loved to find the beauty and humour in
life. She catered to everyone's needs well above her own.
Remedios lived a challenging, but incredibly
interesting and full life. She was born in Antequera, Spain
into the middle of a family of 11 children. Her birth took
place immediately preceding the start of the Spanish Civil
War. She and her family endured tremendous hardships. After
the death of her father at a young age, her family moved to
Tangiers, Morocco to seek work. In her teens, Remedios
travelled and worked in London, England. She eventually
moved to Toronto, Canada where she met her husband John
Skiba, raised her family and lived for over 55 years.
Remedios leaves behind her husband John,
daughters Janet, Rosie and Carmen, her grandchildren Paris,
Augustine and Ruby, her sons-in-law Kevin, Daniel and John,
her dear sister Victoria, brother-in-law Bernardo, brothers
Juan, André, and Manuel and too many friends to
mention.
Everyone knew Remedios loved to make sure all were
well fed and taken care of. As per her wishes, any friend who would like to express sympathy, may make a contribution to Scott's Mission
or the Covenant house.
